What ClipLogger adds

Looking for an Adobe Bridge alternative for footage? Bridge is a strong free asset browser, and for photographs it is hard to beat. ClipLogger is built for the video log: build a palette around the shots your editor needs, connect appearances to known people, let a vision model suggest values, and turn the reviewed result into useful ranges and filenames. Most teams that shoot both stills and video keep Bridge and add ClipLogger for the footage.

Find the subject and the useful moment.

The next request will be more specific than “show me the good clips.” An editor might need a particular athlete, a sideline reaction and a clean three-second range. ClipLogger gives you subject records, your own field types, suggestions and range tools to record those answers while the shoot is still fresh.

From the folder to the edit

Browse nested folders together. Reuse supported XMP values or learn a palette from existing filenames. Name people, items and places, review AI suggestions, then search the log by words, meaning or the values in your directory.

Filmstrips, Reel, markers and virtual clips help you collect useful moments. Write reviewed fields into filenames and sidecars, then export supported selects to your NLE. See the workflow.

What you keep after cancelling

Bridge already supports portable XMP metadata, so ownership is shared ground. ClipLogger adds its fuller written JSON record for the video log, with optional handoff formats for other tools. Keep both the media and the metadata you wrote; a receiving editor still needs a supported format.

What the full workflow costs

The app price is $0 on both sides. The cost worth testing is an assistant’s shift: how much time goes into watching, typing, finding a known person and marking the useful range? We have not measured a Bridge-versus-ClipLogger speed benchmark, so this comparison makes no indexing-speed claim.

ClipLogger’s base app stays free. Local models use your Mac’s memory and time; start a batch overnight to work through an old shoot. Pro is $20/month with 150 Rush credits ($240 over 12 months); one eligible clip uses one credit. Your API requires eligible paid access plus your provider’s usage bill. Plans and submission limits.

Choosing the right combination

Choose Bridge when your day revolves around photographs, Camera Raw or an established Adobe/XMP workflow. Bridge is a free download for Mac and Windows; Adobe requires an internet connection and registration to activate it. It has keywords, labels, ratings, metadata templates and batch rename. Its search can include all subfolders. It previews most video files, shows a thumbnail preview of a clip’s frames, and can send selected clips to Premiere Pro as a new sequence. Adobe still ships updates: version 16.0.6 came out in July 2026. Is Adobe Bridge dead?

ClipLogger fits when: You need a purpose-built video log, roster lookup, semantic discovery, field suggestions and a path from useful moments to the NLE.

ClipLogger currently requires an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 15 or later. It has no hosted video-review portal, and native RED R3D playback is not supported. Format and setup details.

If you use both

Keep Bridge where you need its photo and Adobe workflows. Open supported footage in ClipLogger, index the directory, and build the video palette around your editor’s requests. Preserve existing XMP; verify which fields ClipLogger reads and use “Learn from these files…” to build a palette from an established naming convention.

Try the work on one shoot

Can you answer a specific shot request without replaying the whole shoot?

Choose an athlete, an action and a rating threshold. In ClipLogger, define those fields, review suggestions, combine the filters and mark a range. Compare the work needed to answer the same request in your current Bridge workflow. Bring a difficult camera file too: codec support can decide the choice before any logging feature does.

Bring your current workflow into ClipLogger. Standard metadata and arbitrary custom XMP are different cases. A custom Bridge namespace does not automatically become a ClipLogger palette field.
