What replaces Adobe Prelude's logging workflow?

Preserve the old project, identify the job you need next, and test the handoff into your editor.

ClipLogger logging workspace, from the current website design.

Prelude has a documented end of life

Adobe says Prelude is discontinued and no longer has technical support. Its current guidance points to Premiere for pre-production ingest and basic logging, with Media Encoder for advanced transcoding. That makes this a real workflow-transition question. Adobe Prelude end of life.

The right successor depends on which part of Prelude the team used. Ingesting a card, annotating source footage, assembling a rough cut, and transcoding camera media are connected tasks, but they do not have to belong to one application.

Choose around the work

Work you need A useful evaluation path What to prove
Ingest and basic logging inside the edit system Premiere's current workflow Camera support and marker handling
Verified offload A dedicated tool such as OffShoot Required destination and verification policy
Browse, screen, and convert footage Kyno's documented workflow Current codec and handoff behavior
Structured logging and AI-assisted review on a Mac ClipLogger Palette, correction workflow, and NLE export

OffShoot describes verified transfers as its core job. Kyno documents both screening and conversion. These are useful alternatives to evaluate for those specific requirements, rather than interchangeable entries in a software list. OffShoot, Kyno support.

Preserve work before changing applications

If an existing Prelude installation is available, keep the original project and export a handoff using its supported options. Adobe documents export of clips, subclips, bins, and rough cuts to a Premiere project or Final Cut Pro XML. Retain the export beside the original project and the camera media. Adobe's export instructions.

Open the exported result in a test receiving project and inspect subclip boundaries, markers, order, and relinking. Do this while the old project can still be opened, because a failed conversion is much easier to investigate with both records available.

Use ClipLogger for the next shoot

For new footage, begin with a small palette, a few known subjects, and one sample folder. Review suggestions and assemble selects before exporting to the NLE. ClipLogger does not import a Prelude or Premiere project, so keep historical edits in their established handoff format rather than promising a catalog conversion that does not exist.
