What ClipLogger adds

LucidLink and ClipLogger can work together: one provides shared file access, while ClipLogger helps you understand, search and log the footage in that mounted folder. Use the same workbench for the SSD, camera card or local archive you keep outside the filespace.

Search the shoot from the mounted folder.

Open the footage through the filespace, then find a subject, combine logged fields or explore visually related clips in ClipLogger. Your team’s storage choice does not have to dictate how you describe and retrieve every shoot.

From the folder to the edit

Browse nested folders together. Reuse supported XMP values or learn a palette from existing filenames. Name people, items and places, review AI suggestions, then search the log by words, meaning or the values in your directory.

Filmstrips, Reel, markers and virtual clips help you collect useful moments. Write reviewed fields into filenames and sidecars, then export supported selects to your NLE. See the workflow.

What you keep after cancelling

Download and retain the media and sidecars you want to keep before ending filespace access. A mounted file is not proof of an independent local backup. ClipLogger can continue to browse and log the retained files for free; it does not replace LucidLink’s remote access service.

What the full workflow costs

Five Starter members cost $420 for 12 months at the listed monthly rate, with 500 GB pooled storage. Additional footage can increase the bill. ClipLogger adds $0 in required base logging fees, but you still pay LucidLink for any filespace you keep.

ClipLogger’s base app stays free. Local models use your Mac’s memory and time; start a batch overnight to work through an old shoot. Pro is $20/month with 150 Rush credits ($240 over 12 months); one eligible clip uses one credit. Your API requires eligible paid access plus your provider’s usage bill. Plans and submission limits.

Choosing the right combination

Remote collaborators need LucidLink’s shared filespace and managed file access.

ClipLogger fits when: You want native metadata and visual search, subject matching and source selection over footage your Mac can access.

ClipLogger currently requires an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 15 or later. It has no hosted video-review portal, and native RED R3D playback is not supported. Format and setup details.

If you use both

Use a mounted LucidLink folder for accessible media and keep ClipLogger’s log beside it where writes are supported. Test a small folder for reads and sidecar writes first. Analysis can trigger network reads even when you do not manually download the whole shoot. Finish naming before distributing NLE links when possible.

Try the work on one shoot

Can you find useful footage across the storage you already use?

Open a shoot from the mounted filespace and another from an SSD. Try the same palette, subject lookup and shot request in ClipLogger. Check media reads and sidecar writes on the mount, then hand a supported export to the editor.

Bring your current workflow into ClipLogger. ClipLogger does not replace LucidLink’s shared storage or migrate its permissions. Mounted-storage behavior needs a check on your own setup.
