What ClipLogger adds

ClipLogger adds a native footage workbench to the storage you can access on your Mac. That can include the originals managed through Iconik, along with material on local drives or other mounts. Search your ClipLogger log, review subject matches and prepare useful ranges while Iconik continues to serve the wider team.

Use the same logging tools across your accessible archive.

An archive can span an SSD, a NAS and source storage indexed by Iconik. ClipLogger lets you describe people, items and places with your own fields, then search and filter those records in the app. You can keep the written log beside the files and export the parts your existing workflow can receive.

From the folder to the edit

Browse nested folders together. Reuse supported XMP values or learn a palette from existing filenames. Name people, items and places, review AI suggestions, then search the log by words, meaning or the values in your directory.

Filmstrips, Reel, markers and virtual clips help you collect useful moments. Write reviewed fields into filenames and sidecars, then export supported selects to your NLE. See the workflow.

What you keep after cancelling

Iconik documents media exports and metadata sidecars, so it is inaccurate to call its metadata completely locked away. Those exports are still different from keeping the live Iconik catalog, permissions and search service. ClipLogger’s free app remains available for your local workflow; written sidecars and filenames do not depend on a Rush subscription.

What the full workflow costs

Three Standard seats total $2,340 for 12 months before usage, compared with $0 in ClipLogger base-app fees on three supported Macs. Use the right Iconik role in your budget: a free Collaborator or $9 Browse seat is not the same editing role as a Standard user.

ClipLogger’s base app stays free. Local models use your Mac’s memory and time; start a batch overnight to work through an old shoot. Pro is $20/month with 150 Rush credits ($240 over 12 months); one eligible clip uses one credit. Your API requires eligible paid access plus your provider’s usage bill. Plans and submission limits.

Choosing the right combination

Your team needs a shared catalog across storage systems, permissions, web review and integrations. Iconik supports hybrid storage; it does not require every original to live in its cloud.

ClipLogger fits when: You want to log and search accessible source footage on a Mac, using your own subject names, fields and useful ranges alongside the shared catalog.

ClipLogger currently requires an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 15 or later. It has no hosted video-review portal, and native RED R3D playback is not supported. Format and setup details.

If you use both

Open Iconik-managed originals through their accessible storage path, or use downloaded originals. Log and search them in ClipLogger, then use the receiving workflow’s supported metadata format. This does not connect to the Iconik catalog automatically or make an Iconik workspace itself a mounted drive.

Try the work on one shoot

Can the same palette make both the managed archive and your local shoots easier to search?

Choose accessible originals from one Iconik project and a shoot on a local drive. Log them with the same fields, review known subjects and filter to useful ranges. Check the metadata format your Iconik workflow accepts before expanding the handoff.

Bring your current workflow into ClipLogger. Iconik metadata JSON is not a ClipLogger sidecar. There is no automatic transfer of a complete Iconik workspace, versions or permissions.
